Kerberos Easily Enables Single Sign-On Scheme for Embedded
Network Clients and Services |
FREMONT,
Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 2003 --
TeamF1, Inc. the high-performance embedded networking and
security software company, today announced
AuthAgent
Kerberos, an embedded software client implementation of the
open-standard Kerberos(TM) Protocol (RFC 1510)
authentication and encryption scheme. TeamF1's
implementation is unique in the embedded industry since
AuthAgent Kerberos can be seamlessly used as a standalone
client authentication module or as a flexible authentication
method for network security protocols such as SecureShell,
802.1X, and IPSec.
AuthAgent Kerberos enables organizations to leverage
their enterprise network Kerberos servers and to
authenticate embedded devices requiring secure access
control, such as networking and storage equipment, wireless
access points, workgroup routers and printers, and remotely
managed industrial control applications. AuthAgent Kerberos
eliminates the common problem of plain-text passwords being
compromised while traveling across the network, by
incorporating data integrity checks to ensure that messages
on the network are not tampered with and message privacy to
ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
“Secure authentication technologies such as Kerberos, have
been steadily gaining acceptance in the desktop, server, and
corporate workgroup markets," said Mukesh Lulla, President
of TeamF1. "Until now, it has been difficult to enable this
technology in embedded systems even though smart connected
devices are proliferating in local networks. AuthAgent
Kerberos is a key enabling technology for the industry since
it allows embedded devices to easily add such secure
authentication and be seamlessly integrated into single
sign-on LANs."
AuthAgent Kerberos is based on the Kerberos V protocol that
specifies an authentication and encryption mechanism to
access systems and services on the network. It easily "kerberizes"
embedded client devices and enables them to authenticate to
Kerberos-enabled network services in any multi-platform
environment. Similarly, network services that need to be
Kerberos-enabled can be secured. AuthAgent Kerberos is
interoperable with Kerberos KDCs, services and clients on
other platforms, thus enabling single sign-on capability for
network devices and hosts. Support for the latest
standards-based data encryption ciphers and message
integrity verification is also included (DES, Triple-DES,
SHA-1, MD-5, CRC). This security product, with its tiny
footprint and the flexibility of scaling out unused features
to minimize resources, is specifically designed for embedded
systems.
AuthAgent Kerberos extends TeamF1's security portfolio to
another state-of-the-art authentication technology for
embedded platforms, and works seamlessly with its existing
line of network security protocols. For more product
