TeamF1 Announces NetF1 |

|
|
| A Lean, Flexible, and Fast
Embedded Network Stack |
| Including a
Full-Featured Implementation of IPv6 for Connected Embedded
Devices with Support for Hardware Acceleration |
Fremont,
California, August 12, 2003 – TeamF1, Inc. the
high-performance embedded networking and security software
company, today announced immediate availability of
NetF1, a
highly concurrent and multi-instance capable network stack
for the embedded market. Besides support for the standard
protocols in the TCP/IP suite, NetF1 includes a
full-featured implementation of IPv6 host and router mode.
NetF1 is unique in its tight integration with the operating
systems it supports, leveraging their full potential
including enhanced memory management, native threading
models, and seamless use of hardware based acceleration.
NetF1’s low overhead is exclusively designed for performance
focused IPv4 and IPv6 embedded applications such as wireless
access points, handheld/mobile devices, connected game
consoles, and equipment with L3 control-planes. NetF1’s IPv6
benefits include a generous address space, automatic
neighbor discovery, and router solicitations while
simultaneously supporting IPv4 via multiple compatibility
and transition mechanisms. In addition, NetF1 provides a
“virtual” routing framework, which allows the creation of
any combination of multiple isolated and managed virtual
IPv4 and IPv6 routers in a single physical system.
Third-party protocols including OSPF, BGP, and MPLS can also
run seamlessly within this framework.
“In the near future, IPv6 is expected to replace IPv4—the
current lingua franca of internet-enabled devices. NetF1
allows embedded devices to be on the leading edge of this
transition by providing a drop-in replacement to current
network stacks which works with existing drivers and network
applications” said Mukesh Lulla, President of TeamF1. “Add
to this, IPv4 compatibility, a rich suite of IP-based
protocols, and the ability to run multiple isolated
instances of the stack with hardware acceleration of key
network functions, and you have an embedded network stack
that rivals features only found on high-end desktop and
server systems.“
Availability
NetF1 is immediately available for licensing directly from
TeamF1, on Wind River’s VxWorks® 5.x and other embedded
operating systems, with no special code modifications or OS
source requirements. Additionally, it is binary compatible
with native drivers, such as VxWorks END drivers, and has an
API compatible with existing network applications. For more
