FREMONT,
Calif. — March 30, 2005 –-
TeamF1, Inc. (www.TeamF1.com), the high-performance embedded
networking and security software company, today announced
significant upgrades to its networking and security software
components, continuing its tradition of bringing innovative
and performance-leading software technology to the embedded
device market.
The technologies being announced include: |
 |
GrandPPPrix 2.0 - an advanced
embedded implementation of the Point-to-Point Protocol
(PPP), Multi-Link PPP (MP), and Multi-Class Extensions to MP
(MCMP), with support for multiple network stack instances,
IPv6, encryption, compression and call-back control. |
 |
Internet Software Extensions for Classification and Traffic
Shaping (INSECTS) Suite Version 2.0, a family of software
components comprising the GNAT
Network Address Translator, FireFly
Packet Filtering Firewall, and
ClassHopper Alternate Queuing Disciplines. |

"These
significant upgrades to the rich features of our existing
products show that TeamF1's commitment to customers doesn't
stop at providing quality protocol implementations," said
TeamF1 President Mukesh Lulla. “We continue to build on that
innovation and deliver revolutionary new technologies
specifically targeted to the needs of infrastructure OEMs
and enable our customers to future-proof their own product
roadmap. In these product upgrades, we have added a number
of new features aimed at improving security, performance and
functionality, as well as support for key new standards such
as those used in BTS/BSC/RNC and other IP backhaul
applications."
GrandPPPrix Revs up PPP engines TeamF1's
GrandPPPrix is an advanced embedded
implementation of Multi-Class / Multi-Link PPP, including
PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE).
GrandPPPrix
now features bandwidth aggregation of PPP links to provide
greater throughput for applications such as aggregating
T1/E1 bandwidth in mobile or backhaul applications. With
support for compression, prioritization, call-back control
and link quality monitoring, it enables high performance
even in constrained embedded environments.
GrandPPPrix also provides secure connections using MPPE
and authentication using PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP and EAP.
No packets lost in network translation with GNAT's new
proxies TeamF1's
GNAT is a
high performance network address translator for private
addressing schemes. The upgraded version supports more "ALGs"
(Application Level Gateways) including proxies for
multimedia streams, DGM packets, passive FTP servers and
other applications, while still maintaining a tiny memory
footprint. It also adds support for automatic or explicit
port selection, round-robin redirect rules, and several
other enhancements related to flexible and fine-grain
control of policy settings.
Add on-the-fly stateful inspection with FireFly
FireFly,
a rules-based packet filtering firewall with dynamic
capabilities, now delivers stateful inspection which allows
easy and flexible creation of adaptive firewall filtering
rules for specific flows when packets that match a given
pattern are detected. Enhanced support for grouping rules
into sets, anti-spoofing protection and an extended range of
filtering criteria are a few of the many other enhancements
introduced in this upgrade.
ClassHopper adds a touch of class to PPP and IP stacks
The alternate queuing discipline framework in
ClassHopper now features enhanced classification
mechanisms including support for layer 2 tags, policy
support to mitigate Denial-of-Service attacks, and a
framework for CBQ (Class-Based-Queue) derived disciplines.
When combined with
GrandPPPrix PPP,
ClassHopper can be configured to add traffic-shaping
capabilities to Multi-Class/Multi-Link PPP traffic so that
delays for higher priority packets are minimized while not
abating lower priority traffic.
Availability
GrandPPPrix
(PPP), GNAT (Network address translator), FireFly
(firewall), and
ClassHopper (Alternate Queues) are available
individually or as a bundle directly from TeamF1 with
immediate availability on Wind River System's VxWorks® 5.x
and AE operating systems, Wind River’s VxWorks-based
Platforms such as Platform CD and NE, and other embedded
OSes. Full source code and royalty-free terms are available.
TeamF1's professional services team also provides solutions
for application-specific customization and turnkey
integration and security policy guidance related to these
products.
The upgrades are provided at no additional cost to all
customers under current maintenance agreements.
