Joint Effort Extends Secure Wireless Technology Support to
Low-Cost, User-Friendly Platform |
FREMONT, Calif.- June 5, 2006 -
TeamF1, Inc. (www.TeamF1.com),
the high-performance embedded networking and security
software company, and Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) (NASDAQ:AMCC),
a leading vendor of embedded PowerPC® and network processors
today announced expanded support of TeamF1's secure
networking solutions on AMCC's PowerPC family of highly
integrated embedded microprocessors. This is the latest
milestone in a strategic alliance which combines TeamF1's
expertise in embedded security and advanced networking
software with AMCC's global leadership in embedded PowerPC
processors.
The two companies have committed to jointly develop highly
integrated, advanced networking and security platforms for
OEMs and ODMs in the Wi-Fi® and VPN application space. Their
partnership focuses on demonstrating optimized hardware
architectures and software components designed to leverage
specialized hardware resources.
Following the recent successful porting of TeamF1 products
on AMCC's 440GR based Yellowstone evaluation kit earlier
this year, TeamF1 has now integrated its secure access point
software (Air Secure Access Point or "ASAP") on AMCC's "Taihu"
development platform - a low-cost, easy-to-use evaluation
kit for AMCC's PowerPC 405EP processor. This new integrated
platform consists of TeamF1's ASAP software, TeamF1's secure
management middleware, AMCC's PowerPC 405EP based Taihu
evaluation kit and a standard off-the-shelf PCI-based Wi-Fi
chipset. This pre-validated solution is targeted towards the
growing market for low-cost, yet full-featured secure access
points and wireless gateways.
TeamF1's ASAP software provides rich capabilities such as
the ability to concurrently support many different
generations of 802.11 security technology found in today's
wireless networks - from WEP through WPA, up to WPA2/
802.11i in either Personal (Pre-shared Key) or Enterprise
(802.1X) modes. AMCC's PowerPC 405EP processor with
integrated network connectivity and a 32-bit PCI v2.2
interface, when combined with any standard PCI-based Wi-Fi®
chipset provides the necessary performance and interface
features for a complete cost-sensitive ODM/OEM-ready access
point solution. To further assist OEMs/ODMs with
production-ready solutions, TeamF1 also offers managed VPN/firewall
gateway capabilities with ASAP-enabled wireless connectivity
in an easily configurable and re-brandable package.
"We are happy to have reached two goals with this milestone:
accelerate production schedules of OEMs and ODMs of
feature-rich wireless devices through seamless
hardware-software integration, and lower BOM costs by
targeting a low-cost hardware platform," said Mukesh Lulla,
TeamF1 co-founder and President. "Our alliance with AMCC
continues to lead the market in providing solutions that
deliver an optimized user experience, while providing system
designers with more choices in hardware platforms."
"We are delighted to see TeamF1 introduce their Air Secure
Access Point software for our low-cost 405EP processor
platform", said Charlie Ashton, Director of Software at AMCC.
"While the 405EP is an optimum processor solution for
wireless access points, OEM and ODM customers expect to
integrate off-the-shelf software into their products. The
ASAP software package clearly meets their need for
comprehensive software with advanced security features. We
look forward to achieving many design-wins based around the
combination of our 405EP processor and TeamF1's ASAP
software".
The two companies will be demonstrating the full range of
capabilities of this solution at Computex in the Grand Hyatt
hotel, in Taipei, Taiwan from June 6-10, 2006.
Availability This integrated hardware/software
reference design providing a complete secure access point
solution is available immediately from AMCC and TeamF1.
Additionally, TeamF1's network security components such as
V-IPSecure (IPsec and IKE),
SSLimSecure
(SSL), SSHield
(SECSH) and authentication solutions (Kerberos,
RADIUS,
digital
certificates) pre-validated on AMCC's PowerPC® processor
family are also available individually under flexible
licensing terms directly from TeamF1. For more product
